Micron socks are truly the best upgrade to your filter/sump for polishing water. Perfect for trapping uneaten foods, waste, decaying plants, detritus, dust and other free-floating particulates in your water. Solid construction and heavy-duty double stitched for maximum durability make these socks strong and durable so they can be cleaned and reused numerous times. You will receive our professional cleaning instruction included with your filter socks to safely clean your socks. These filter socks are made with durable polyester which lasts longer than those made with polypropylene. Our 200 micron filter socks are constructed only when our USA factory receives our exact specifications. Is the 100 or 200 micron better for my aquarium? The lower the micron rating, the more floating debris it removes, hence the filter socks clog up faster. Our drawstring socks are only available in 200 micron. How often should I changes the filter socks? It depends on tank load, but generally you want to change your filter socks once a week or every two weeks. The more often you change, the better your water quality; it removes organic solids before they break down in aquarium. Is it better to use a longer sock or a shorter sock? Ideally the filter sock should be hanging in the water without touching or laying on the bottom of the sump. If a shorter sock is above the water line, there may be more noise as water drains from the sock side and splashes. What is the glaze finish on the sock? The socks are untreated and are designed with a 100% aquatic safe outside glaze. We do recommend giving them a quick rinse to prevent foam build up in your protein skimmer.
